things to do 

  • surf, sunbathe, do laps in the ocean pools, or play beach volleyball on the permanent nets at Newport Beach

  • sail, rent a kayak or a tinny from boatsheds along the Pittwater side of the Peninsula

  • take a leisurely commuter ferry ride from historic Church Point near Mona Vale to check out how the "offshore" folk live on the Western Foreshores.  Or take one of the many trips from the Palm Beach Ferry Wharf across to Kuringai National Park or further to the inner beaches of the Central Coast.

  • go bush! take a drive or catch a ferry to Kuringai National Park on the western side of Pittwater for secluded beaches, peaceful bushwalks and stunning views from West Head.

  • retail therapy anyone? browse the many boutiques and homewares shops in Mona Vale, Newport and Avalon.

  • sit around in any number of cafes drinking coffee, watching the street life pass by

  • the locals love their dogs, so be prepared to say hi and pat the easy-going canines you'll find sitting outside many street-side cafes
